Zpacks Plex Solo Classic Tent - is designed for ultralight backpacking and thru-hiking, exemplifies Zpacks' dedication to quality and innovation. It achieves a remarkable balance of strength and minimal weight through its use of Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF).

Inside, the tent offers a well-designed living space for one person, featuring a single-door setup for convenience. Notably, it offers versatility with options for both freestanding and non-freestanding versions. The freestanding variant incorporates lightweight trekking pole supports, while the non-freestanding version relies on stakes for setup, catering to individual preferences.

Addressing the condensation issue often faced by single-wall tents, the Plex Solo Tent incorporates strategic vents and an airflow-friendly design for a comfortable, moisture-free interior.

Setup is adaptable, allowing the use of a single trekking pole adjusted to around 132 cm or a Carbon tent pole from Zpacks if trekking poles aren't available. Stakes are not included with the tent and you can buy it separately tent stakes.

The Plex Solo Tent boasts a solid, sewn-in 20 cm tall bathtub floor. This floor is 97 cm wide at the center and tapers to 71 cm at the head and foot, providing ample room to stretch out comfortably. However, taller hikers can create even more head and foot room by propping up the side guylines with Trekking Pole Cups.

The tent's storm doors operate independently, accommodating changing weather conditions. They securely close with custom-made metal hooks, providing protection from rain and cold winds. The screen door, featuring a rainbow zipper, offers easy access and neatly drops inward when not in use.

The canopy extends over the bathtub floor and screen doors, offering rain protection without sacrificing ventilation. Elastic cords are thoughtfully included to enhance rain protection when a door is open. Additionally, a convenient mesh pocket near the door provides easy access to essential items.

One of the advantages of this tent is its compact packed size. It measures a mere 12.7 cm by 28 cm, making it compatible with smaller backpacks and daypacks. The small packed size is a significant benefit for those who want to keep their overall gear volume to a minimum.

With its lightweight construction, durability, and compact packed size, the Plex Solo Tent is an excellent choice for weight-conscious backpackers, fitting comfortably in smaller backpacks and daypacks. Its design ensures stability even in windy conditions, and its adaptability caters to a wide range of preferences.

MATERIAL:
.55 oz/sqyd (blue, olive, white) or .75 oz/sqyd (spruce green) Standard Dyneema® Composite Fabric

Dyneema® Composite Fabric has several advantages over other materials:

  • High strength to weight ratio – the material can handle high wind force and does not tear easily.
  • Chemical free, PFC free
  • Waterproof – there is no DWR or coating to worry about wearing out. The material will not absorb significant water that will add water weight to your pack
  • Stretch-free – the tent will stay taut all night. Nylon material by comparison can stretch and sag, especially if it gets wet.
  • Taped seams – our seams are sewn for strength then taped water tight. The tie outs have bonded reinforcements for high strength. No seam sealing will be necessary!
  • Easily repairable – Any damage can easily be fixed in the field with our Dyneema® Composite Fabric Repair Tape.
  • This tent is semi-transparent. In bright sunlight, a fuzzy silhouette of a person sitting inside the tent would be visible, but you cannot see any details. It has a suitable amount of privacy for changing clothes.
  • In lower light (such as in the evening or at night), you cannot see through at all. Another nice thing about this material is that you can see the outlines of trees and your surroundings for a more immersed outdoor experience.

TOTAL WEIGHT:
413 g | 14.6 oz includes guy lines, sewn in linelocs, taped seams.

A piece of repair tape and two spare zipper sliders are included with each tent. Your choice of canopy material will change the total weight.

Like the other one (Vol 1) but different (Vol 2) with more.
Format: Paperback
Volume 2 continues the great color combinations of the 1st Volume, but the combinations are more complex, with more colors. There's even a section of art in the form of paintings, prints, woven work, etc. that you see on one page while on the opposite page is the breakdown of the colorations in bars with no image. What this does is show how the art works, and then how the combinations also work. Also more of the simplified 2 and 3 combinations that I think I prefer as more minimal. Again, these are ranged from light and airy to darkly saturated -and all curiously satisfying and worth study and trying them out. On the computer it's possible to match any tone or hue, so there's a path that only requires finding the right starting color then paying attention to the combination. Not that it's an end-all, but a beginning. Any of those can be shifted or modified with ease but it depends on how they fit a real-time application and not a formula. But the horizons have already been expanded so there's more, and even more.

Great book to help establish a palette for a software, web or art project
Format: Paperback
I love this book for helping me establish a color palette for art projects that I want a Japanese feel to. Also just generally good for getting inspiration for color palettes that just plain look good. I've always, since I can remember from my youth, felt drawn to the Japanese color combinations in kimono. fashion, origami paper and even toys. Maybe it's a consequence of growing up in Hawaii with all the Japanese influences I had -- or, as I suspect, it's just really good color application. This book helps me find the colors I want that go together the way I want. I use the examples in this book with a Color Muse to pick my digital color palette.

Terrific content, soft cover.
Format: Paperback
It is way smaller than expected but it is amazing in content. The only think I do not like is that it has an extremely soft external cover, which worries me on the long run.
